Metrics in Agile; a Love-hate relationship

Metrics are a hot topic in many (Agile) organizations with strong opinions and heated discussions as a result. This is because in my experience when we talk about metrics we often think about holding a team accountable and having to justify the work done. It is often seen as a reporting tool for management. These classifications could be characterized as a result of low trust and strictly output driven environment but I’ve encountered this before.
